We are located on the lower end of the East
branch of the Mattawamkeag River, a beautiful small stream for brook tout
and small mouth fishing. At camp and upstream is beautiful trout water and
great for wade fishing. Downstream approximately two (2) miles is a
small boat launch that is great for canoeing and small mouth bass
fishing. This is the easy flowing part of the river where the east and
west branch join. Both branches of the river are great springtime trout
fishing and all wade-able . Spring is best for trout both native and stocked
fish thru june from ice out which is about mid april. Small mouth fishing is
great into fall, either wading or smaller boats spin cast or
fly-fishing.
Approx 15 miles north in Houlton is
Meduxnekeag river and brown trout fishing in spring is good along with
brook trout.
Local lakes (most with boat launches)
provide fishing for brown trout, brook trout, togue(lakers) and land
lock salmon along with bass. Great fishing by boat, still fishing
or trolling. .Most lakes are within 15-25 minute drive. The Penobscot
river is approximately 30 miles south of us. It is a great small
mouth bass river all summer long, catching 50-100 fish per day.
If you want to stream fish all day and
not see other anglers these streams are it. It's a great area to get
away and fish with your 4 wheeler and explore. Our lakes locally are the
famous East Grand Lake on the Canadian border, Drew's , Nickerson,
Deering, Brackett, and Mattawamkeag which feeds the west branch of
the Mattawamkeag river approximately two miles below camp.
